Andrea Bucci

Andrea Bucci (born March 15, 1966 in Viareggio ) is an Italian sculptor .

Life

Andrea Bucci was born the son of an architect and spent a lot of time in his childhood in his father's studio, where he became familiar with various kinds of artistic work. He studied architecture at the University of Florence from 1987 to 1997 and worked as an architect for several years. Since he was 20 years old, he was also self-taught , making sculptures. He finished his work as an architect so that he could devote himself entirely to art.

In the meantime, an extensive work has been created that is shown in public and private collections in and outside Italy. For public spaces, he designed commissioned works that took him to the Eastern People's Republic of China .

He lives in Lucca , where he works and shows his work in his own private gallery.

Andrea Bucci's ceramic and bronze figures are characterized by simplicity and clear lines and range from small sculptures to monumental sizes.

Abroad, Bucci first showed his works in 2000 in an exhibition in Montreal sponsored by the Italian Cultural Institute . In 2008 he won his first public art competition in Oslo , where he took part in the Peer Gynt competition with the sculpture “The Wild Buck Ride”.

Private and public collections in many European countries and in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Ireland, Israel, Korea, Lebanon, New Zealand, Russia, Saudi Arabia, the United States and the United Kingdom include sculptures by Andrea Bucci.

Awards

  • 1999 and 2002: International Art Prize "Ermanno Casoli".
