Andrea Foglia

Andrea Foglia Costa (born December 4, 1985 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan sailor .

The 1.76 meter tall athlete , known as Pandy , studies pedagogy at the Universidad Catolica . She is the sister of the sailor Alejandro Foglia , who was the flag bearer of Uruguay at the 2008 Olympic Games , and the sailor Mariana Foglia . Foglia belongs to the Yacht Club Punta del Este .

Foglia took part in the 2010 South American Games in Medellín . She was a participant in the Laser Radial class at the 1st Beach South America Games in Montevideo and Punta del Este in 2010 and in the Laser Standard class at the Pan American Games in 2011 .

In May 2012 she secured her Olympic qualification at the World Championships in Boltenhagen . Foglia is now part of the Uruguayan team for the 2012 Summer Olympics . She competes in the Laser Radial competition in London . Since her brother also takes part in the Olympic Games in London, Uruguay's team is represented for the third time in the country's Olympic history after 1936 ( Baldomiro and Gabriel Benquet ) and 2004 ( Paul and Martín Kutscher ) a pair of siblings. Andrea Foglia is also the first woman in Uruguayan history to represent her home country in this sport at the Olympic Games.
