Andrea Gardini (born October 1, 1965 in Bagnacavallo ) is a former Italian volleyball player and today's volleyball coach.

Career as a player

Gardini began his career in 1980 with his native Fulgur Bagnacavallo. From 1982 to 2004 the middle blocker played for 22 years in the "Serie A1" at various top clubs. During this time he was seven times Italian champion, once Italian cup winner, four times Champions League winner , twice European cup winner , twice CEV cup winner and once club world champion .

Gardini played 418 times for the national team from 1986 to 2000 . He took part in four Olympic tournaments and won several world and European championships, as well as world leagues and world cups.

In 2007 Andrea Gardini was the first Italian to be inducted into the “ Volleyball Hall of Fame ”.

Career as a coach

Gardini has been a trainer since 2011. From 2011 to 2013 he worked as an assistant coach for the Polish national team . He was then head coach of the Polish clubs AZS UWM Olsztyn and Zaksa Kędzierzyn-Koźle , with whom he won the national championship in 2019. Gardini has been training the Italian first division club “You Energy Volley” from Piacenza since 2019 .
