Andrea Holt

Andrea Holt (born November 11, 1970 in Radcliffe (Greater Manchester) ) is a former English table tennis player . She was one of the best players in England in the 1990s and 2000s and took part in two Olympic Games.

Career

Andrea Holt began table tennis at the age of seven. She was guided and trained by her father, Wilton Holt, a strong table tennis player in the English league, and later by Chen Xinhua . At the age of 14 Andrea became English junior champion. In 1992 she moved to Montpellier, France, and joined the Mondeville association.

Andrea Holt won a total of nine titles at the National English Championships from 1991 to 2004 , four in singles (1991, 1993, 2003, 2004), four in doubles (1993, 1995, 1997, 1998) and one in mixed. In 1995 she lost to the Dutch Bettine Vriesekoop at the open English championship in the final . She won bronze three times at European Championships with the English team, namely in 1994 , 1996 and 1998 .

In 1992 and 1996 she qualified together with Lisa Lomas for participation in the double competition of the Olympic Games . They were eliminated from the group games.

In 2006 Andrea Holt ended her career as a competitive athlete.

In June 2008, she and Alex Perry had a single rally for 8 hours and 27 minutes. This was a record up until then. This was outbid in 2014 by the British Daniel and Peter Ives.

Private

Andrea Holt has two older brothers and a daughter.
