Andrea Pangrazio

Andrea Pangrazio (born September 1, 1909 in Táhtászada , † June 2, 2005 ) was an Italian bishop of the Catholic Church .

Life

Pangrazio received in the July 3, 1932 Padua the priesthood . On August 26, 1953 he was by Pope Pius XII. appointed coadjutor bishop of Verona and titular bishop of Caesarea in Thessalia . He received his episcopal consecration on October 4, 1953, the Bishop of Padua Girolamo Bartolomeo Bortignon , co-consecrators were Guido Maria Mazzocco , the Bishop of Adria , and Vittorio De Zanche, the Bishop of Concordia . On May 19, 1955 Pangrazio was appointed coadjutor bishop of Livorno and on February 10, 1959 he succeeded Bishop Giovanni Piccioni, who died on the same day . Pope John XXIII appointed Andrea Pangrazio on April 4, 1962 Archbishop of Gorizia (Gorizia) . On February 2, 1967 he became Archbishop ad personam Bishop of the Diocese of Porto . From 1966 to 1972 he was secretary of the Italian Bishops' Conference .

On reaching the age limit, he offered Pope John Paul II his resignation, which was accepted on December 7, 1984. He died on June 2, 2005 and was buried in the Sacri Cuori di Gesù e Maria cathedral in the Roman district of La Storta .
