plant

The art historian Reinhard Müller-Mehlis portrayed Andreas Bleeker's work as follows:

“The demanding sparseness of his disciplined order of images does not appeal. There is nothing tasty about the delicacy of its color values - it is elegantly reserved, instinctive and at the same time very conscious of every nuance and relation. (...) Bleeker began with a gloomy, pale realism of isolated objects that was once declared as 'magical'. (...) Andreas Bleeker decided against the multitudes of the dominant economic abstracts: with the quiet, clear sound of his still lifes, the lightweight, never burdensome objects in the tension of the surface area. (...) Opaque and transparent, slightly modified colored surfaces are used to encourage contemplation. Actually this: your own world, which needs protection and defense against outside influence. The familiar becomes a confession: It confirms this self-created, limited, carefully opened living space. There is much wisdom in it and the courage to be modest with what is available. It creates the power of accomplishment. "
