Andreas Dreher

Andreas Dreher (born June 4, 1872 in Öpfingen ; † February 2, 1953 in Stuttgart ) was a German politician ( SPD ) and a former member of the constituent assembly of the state parliament of the free people of Württemberg .

Andreas Dreher was the son of a carpenter and worked as a transport worker and packer after graduating from elementary school . He was a union member and was a member of the board from 1907 to 1911 and chairman of the branch of the transport workers' association in Stuttgart from 1911 to 1920 . Between January 1907 and 1920 he was also the full-time managing director of the transport workers' association in Stuttgart.

After the November Revolution, from November 1918 to May 1919, he was a member of the Executive Committee of the Greater Stuttgart Workers 'Council and of the State Committee of the Workers' Councils of Württemberg. In 1919 he was elected to the constituent assembly of the SPD.

From 1920 to May 1925, Andreas Dreher worked as the district manager of the transport workers' association and later of the transport association for Württemberg based in Stuttgart. From June 1925 to 1933 he was district party secretary of the SPD for Württemberg-Hohenzollern, based in Stuttgart.

With the seizure of power by the National Socialists a continuation of the trade union and political work was no longer possible.

Honors

After 1945, Andreas Dreher played a leading role in the reconstruction of the workers' welfare in Württemberg, of which he had already belonged from 1927 to 1933. He became honorary chairman of the Württemberg State Association of Workers' Welfare

In 1952 Andreas Dreher was honored with the Federal Cross of Merit (Steckkreuz).
