Andreas Ernst (psychologist)

Andreas M. Ernst (* 1960 in Aachen ) is a German psychologist and environmental scientist .

Live and act

Andreas Ernst completed a commercial apprenticeship and studied psychology at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg i. Br. 1988 he graduated with a diploma . He then completed a year of research at the Learning Research and Development Center at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. From 1989 to 1993 he was a research assistant in the “General Psychology” department at the Institute for Psychology at the University of Freiburg i. Br. 1993 he received his doctorate with the work Social Knowledge as the Basis of Action in Conflict Situations . He worked as a research assistant and completed his habilitation in 1999 with the work Information in der Klemme. Information dilemmas in the use of natural resources. From 1999 to 2002 he was a professor at the Institute for Psychology at the University of Freiburg i. Br. And was appointed professor at the “Center for Environmental Systems Research” at the University of Kassel in 2002 .

Andreas Ernst was President of the European Social Simulation Association (ESSA) from 2010 to 2012 . In 2011 he completed a six-month research stay as a Distinguished Visiting Scholar at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) in Townsville , Australia.

Andreas Ernst is a member of the advisory board of GAIA magazine and a member of the “Society” working group of the German Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech).
