Andreas Fels (born August 1, 1972 in Cologne ) is a German author , copywriter and graphic artist .

Life

Fels studied Japanese Studies , English and German at the University of Cologne . During his studies he noticed that there were hardly any offers on the subject of Japan in German on the still young Internet. He decided to set up his own internet platform Japanlink as an "intercultural connection between Japan and Germany". Initially, the site only contained geographical and historical data and facts, but soon also offered articles on sociological and pop-cultural topics, thanks also to the support of fellow students in Cologne Japanology. In 1997, Fels started his own business and offered customers the implementation of websites. In the resulting advertising agency APIX , Fels has been working as managing director and creative director ever since. Since his studies, Fels wrote articles related to Japan for various publications such as Animania. He contributed the texts to the illustrated book Tokyo published by Bruckmann Verlag in 2003 . He accompanied the fictional characters Yukiko and Kenji on a tour of the Japanese metropolis. The two figures also play an essential role in the later works Japan , The Ax in the Chrysanthemum Forest and Love in Japanese . He wrote the last three works together with his wife Kerstin.

The couple's most successful book to date is The Ax in the Chrysanthemum Forest . Its structure and structure laid the foundation for the series of faux pas guides that Conbook subsequently launched.
