Andreas Frey (economist)

Andreas Frey (born June 5, 1967 in Geislingen ) is a German economist and rector of the Nürtingen-Geislingen University of Economics and Environment (HfWU) for the years 2013–2019. In the new election in 2019 he was confirmed in office.

Live and act

He grew up in Geislingen and graduated from the Michelberg-Gymnasium and then studied at the University of Wisconsin in the USA and at the University of Ulm , where he obtained his doctorate. rer nat was awarded a doctorate. After a postdoctoral stay at the Tokyo Institute of Technology and a further research stay in Tokyo , he returned to Germany to take up a position as a systems engineer at Siemens AG .

In 2004, Frey was appointed to the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences , where he taught as a professor for business mathematics, statistics and business informatics until 2013. He also worked as dean of studies and vice-dean of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences and headed a working group "International Strategy". In addition, he was the spokesman for the Innovation Center for Internationalization, China Commissioner and organized the German-Chinese Symposium and China and Japan Weeks in Osnabrück.

In April 2013, Andreas Frey was elected as the rector of the HfWU to succeed Werner Ziegler for a period of six years . He took office on September 1, 2013. In 2019 he was re-elected for a further term.

Publications

  • Frey is the author of more than 30 publications in German and English, he was visiting professor at the Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade and as a visiting scholar at Waseda University in Japan .
