Andreas Grünbichler

Andreas Grünbichler (born April 2, 1964 ) is an Austrian bank and insurance manager . He has been with the Wüstenrot Group since 2009 as CFO and subsequently also as Market Director. Since 2003 he has been honorary professor for business administration at the University of Vienna and since 2004 adjunct professor for financial market research at the University of St. Gallen (HSG), where he is also an academic. He is also the 2nd Vice-President of the European Building Societies Association (EFBS).

Career

Grünbichler grew up in Styria , where he attended the Stiftsgymnasium in Admont and was also head of the school . He studied business administration in Graz and qualified as a university lecturer for general business administration in 1995 . From 1992 to 1995 Andreas Grünbichler was a guest professor of finance at the Anderson School of the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). Then in 1995, at the age of 31, he moved to the University of St. Gallen, HSG , as full professor of financial market research. Andreas Grünbichler has been working as a bank and insurance manager since January 2000: on the board of Steiermärkische Sparkasse und Bank AG Graz, in various management functions at the Zurich Insurance Group at corporate level in Zurich and at Constantia Privatbank in Vienna . Between 2001 and 2004, Andreas Grünbichler was Director of the Financial Market Authority in Vienna. He designed the Austrian stock market  index Austrian Traded Index (ATX) and managed its implementation. Grünbichler is considered a critic of some forms of Exchange Traded Fund (ETFs) investments.

He is married to the ORF journalist Ingrid Thurnher .
