Andreas Hartmann (folklorist)

Andreas Hartmann (* 1952 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German folklorist .

Career

Hartmann studied folklore, ethnology and musicology at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg and received his doctorate there in 1984. From 1986 to 1992 he worked as a university assistant at the seminar for folklore at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen , after which he held a substitute professorship until 1994 at the University of Hamburg . Hartmann obtained his habilitation at the Philipps University in Marburg and since 1998 has been professor of folklore at the seminar for folklore / European ethnology at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster . He retired at the end of the summer semester in September 2018. On his retirement, his colleagues, companions and friends honored him on October 14, 2018 in the rooms of the Münster Seminar for Folklore / European Ethnology by handing over a commemorative publication comprising 24 articles.

Hartmann's research focuses on European culture and Southeast Asia . Together with Elisabeth Timm , he is the editor of the Münster publications on folklore / European ethnology .
