Andreas Hedwig

Andreas Hedwig (* 1959 in Leverkusen ) is a German archivist and has been head of the Hessian State Archives since 2014.

Life

Hedwig completed a teaching degree and graduated in 1986 with the second state examination. He then received his doctorate in 1989. In 1990/91 he was a research assistant at the University of Bremen . Between 1991 and 1993 he completed an archive traineeship . In 1993 he started working for the Hessian Main State Archives in Wiesbaden . He has headed the Hessian State Archives in Marburg since 2001 , has taught at the Marburg Archive School since 2003 and at the Philipps University of Marburg since 2008 . He has been head of the Hessian State Archives since 2014 . Hedwig was appointed honorary professor at the University of Marburg in 2016 . The appointment as President of the Hessian State Archives followed in April 2018 .

Hedwig has been chairman of the historical commission for Hesse since 2005 .
