Cenotaph for Andreas Hupfer in Fraureuth

On July 17, 1721 Andreas Hupfer was born in Fraureuth, the son of the landlord and farmer Michael Hupfer and his wife Marie (née Wunderlich).

In 1745 he married Christiane Lippold, with whom he had two sons. However, they both died of the Ruhr in 1750 and 1763. After the death of his wife in 1778, Andreas Hupfer was always ailing and a widower for the last 21 years of his life. In the course of his creative time he acquired another estate in 1756, which he sold again in 1791 to the Oberruppertsgrün manorial leaseholder Johann George Reinhold Ehre for 5,200 thalers .

On May 12, 1769, Andreas Hupfer wrote his will with the help of the lawyer Pinther from Untersteinpleis . In this he stipulated that after his death the 5,200 thalers from the sales proceeds would be bequeathed to a poor legacy, a sick and orphan pen as well as an arson and church pen to the Fraureuth community.

On February 19, 1799, Andreas Hupfer died in his estate in Fraureuth, which he had acquired in 1747 for 900 guilders . Thanks to his legacy and the Andreas Hupfer Foundation, many people in need were helped.

In memory of Andreas Hupfer and in his honor, the Fraureuth community donated a memorial in 1899 on the 100th anniversary of his death.
