Andreas Juergens

Andreas Jürgens (born November 14, 1956 in Salzgitter ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ), former member of the Hessian state parliament and first alderman at the State Welfare Association of Hesse .

From April 5, 2003 to November 19, 2008 and from February 5, 2009 to May 1, 2012 he was a member of the Hessian state parliament. He was the political spokesman for legal policy, judicial policy, gender equality policy and disability policy. Jürgens was a member of the Legal Committee, the Social Committee and the Prison Subcommittee. In the state elections in Hesse in 2009, he moved back to 8th place in the state list of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen and stood as a candidate in constituency 3 (Kassel-Stadt I - "West") .

From 1976 to 1986 he studied law at the Philipps University of Marburg and graduated with a doctorate. From 1986 to 2003 he worked as a judge at the Kassel District Court, most recently as a further supervisory judge.

He has been responsible for the jurisprudence section of the specialist journal Betreuungsrechtliche Praxis (BtPrax) since 1992 .

politics

Since 1999 he has been a member of the district board of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen in Kassel, and from 2001 to 2011 he was chairman of the district association. From November 2005 to March 2006 he was a member and since February 2008 he has been a member of the city council in Kassel.

For the parliamentary group Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen, he was a member of the assembly of the State Agency for Private Broadcasting and New Media (LPR) until November 2008. In October 2006 he was elected to the association assembly of the State Welfare Association (LWV), from October 2011 to April 18, 2012 he was parliamentary group chairman of the LWV parliamentary group. On April 18, 2012, Jürgens was elected full-time First Alderman of the LWV Hessen.

In the election on March 27, 2011, Jürgens ran for the office of Lord Mayor of the City of Kassel and achieved third place out of a total of six candidates with 14.95% of the votes.

In 2003, Andreas Jürgens received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon.
