Andreas Koeppen

Andreas Koeppen (born January 27, 1961 in Berlin ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and since April 14, 2010 mayor of Itzehoe .

Life

Koeppen obtained his secondary school diploma in 1977 and his Abitur in 1984 on a second educational path. Between 1977 and 1986 he was a police officer. Until 1990 he studied economics and political science in Hamburg and Glasgow . In 1996 he received his doctorate from the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg. He has two children.

Koeppen joined the SPD in 1986 . From 1997 to 2005 he was a member of the Eimsbüttel district assembly and temporarily chairman of the parliamentary group.

He was elected Mayor of Itzehoe on March 7, 2010 with 56 percent of the vote, replacing Rüdiger Blaschke , who was not party to the party . On November 8, 2015, he was re-elected with 84.7% of the votes cast.
