Since the beginning of his studies, he worked at the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation (IPA) in software development for image processing systems. In 1989 he went to New Zealand for one year at the University of Auckland and worked at the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research in the development of parallel processor architectures in image processing. After his return he founded TERRA NOVA PanoramaVision in 1990 and Expedition-Erde in 2005 , a series of events for documentaries and live reports.

With 18  projectors , images were projected onto a panorama screen up to 18 meters wide. In numerous documentaries and multivisions, he used this visual technique to report on different countries and cultures. In 1998 he used the new digital WatchOut presentation technology with four video projectors for the first time .

According to the report magazine Geo , Mihatsch is one of “the most successful multivision artists”. His video installations have been presented in numerous cities. In 2005 he performed with his South Africa multivision dance in the Gewandhaus in Leipzig .

In November 2005 he produced ten films for the United Nations .
