Andreas Saurer (* 1963 in Andeer / Graubünden , Switzerland ) is a Swiss historian , poet , journalist , essayist and translator . He lives and works in Bern and Basel .

Life

Andreas Saurer studied history and modern German literature in Bern , Berlin and Siena . Since 1995 he has been editor of the Berner Zeitung . He is the author of an analytical study on the development of the Romanian village from 1919 to 1989. The study provides the prehistory of the perverted systematization and explains Ceaușescu's madness as the logical continuation of collectivization and expropriations under real socialism. Andreas Saurer is a member of the Association "Authors of Switzerland" (AdS). His poems have been translated into Romansh, Romanian, Ukrainian, Slovak and Hungarian. He translates from Romanian-language poetry (including poems by Grigore Chiper, Vasile Igna, Vasile Muste). In 2007 he won the Orte Poetry Prize, and in 2005 he received the debut prize at the Sighetu Marmației international poetry festival . In 1995 he was a finalist in the Open Mike literature competition of the Berlin Literature Workshop .
