Andreas Johannes Christian von Schickhardt (born November 19, 1710 in Hessigheim , † August 2, 1782 in Stuttgart ) was a Württemberg scribe who became chamber clerk under Duke Karl Eugen . He was a great-grandson of Lucas Schickhardt (III.) . He was related by marriage to Philipp Friedrich Hiller through his older sister Maria Regina .

Life

Andreas Schickhardt was a son of the pastor of Hessigheim Johann Friedrich Schickhardt (1665–1739) and a great-grandson of Lucas Schickhardt (III.) From the Schickhardt family . He got a clerk training. His first position was a substitute town clerk (deputy town clerk) in Urach . With the decree of July 6, 1743, Duke Karl Eugen appointed him to the extraordinary Rentkammer accountant and brought him to Stuttgart. In 1744 Schickhardt married Johanna Christine Walther (1718–1769), a daughter of the Rentkammer secretary Johann Israel Walther. He had seven children with her, including four sons.

On April 15, 1749 Schickhardt was appointed to the Rechenbankrat. The Duke must have noticed him very soon and had been convinced of his efficiency. Namely, he ennobled him and brought him near him as a court and rent chamber expedition councilor. In 1758, Herzog set up an arrogant secret cabinet ministry under Count Friedrich Samuel von Montmartin , a body that operated alongside the constitutional secret council . At that time, Andreas Schickhardt was the only member of the committee responsible for finances. In the years 1759–1762 Andreas Schickhardt was the chamber clerk and had to manage the Duke's private fortune. This post gave him an exceptionally independent position. In the years 1767–1781 Schickhardt was a member of three deputations (standing committees): the agriculture deputation, the Umgelt deputation (for consumption taxes) and the orphans and widows' funds deputation. In addition, he was chamber clerk of the Umgelt deputation from 1779 until his death.

There were two sons among his children who carried out similar activities to their father. The elder Joseph Israel (1751–1829) followed in his father's footsteps and became the Württemberg Chamber and Accounts Councilor. The younger Karl Georg (1757–1839) was an auditor in Nürtingen . Andreas Schickhardt also had the daughter Luise, who married the theology professor Gottlieb Jakob Planck in 1781 . In 1782 they had their son Georg Heinrich Planck, whose baptismal father Andreas could become ten days before his death.
