Andreas Schlueter the Elder

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Andreas Schlueter (the elder) (* before 1602 , † after 1640 ) was a German blacksmith in Brandenburg and Danzig . He was the father of the builder Andreas Schlueter (the younger one).

Life

Andreas Schlueter received citizenship in Brandenburg an der Havel in 1622. He then moved to Danzig, where he married Barbara Stange in 1630. There he probably worked as a blacksmith. Further details about his person have not yet been determined.

Andreas Schlueter was married to Barbara, the daughter of Andreas and Regina Stange. Children were

  • Anna Schlueter (* 1631)
  • Barbara Schlueter
  • Andreas Schlueter (1634–1714), important master builder and sculptor in Danzig, Berlin and St. Petersburg
  • Caspar Schlueter (* 1639)
  • Ernst Schlüter (1641–1700), sculptor, also worked in Berlin, died in Hamburg

The presentation of the biography of Andreas Schlueter the Elder is important for research as he was sometimes mistaken for his son Andreas Schlueter the Younger for the period from 1634 to 1670.
