Andreas Schmeling

Andreas Schmeling (born October 30, 1968 in Königs Wusterhausen ) is a German forensic doctor ; he works at the University Hospital Münster .

education and profession

After graduating from high school, Schmeling first studied Scandinavian studies at the University of Oslo and then medicine at the Humboldt University in Berlin . In 1997 he graduated in both subjects: the MA in Scandinavian Studies with a thesis on Sigurd Hoel at the Free University of Berlin , the Dr. med. with a thesis on the influence of liver transplantation on the phenotype of polymorphic plasma molecules at the Humboldt University.

In 2003 he was recognized as a doctor of forensic medicine , and in 2004 he completed his habilitation at the newly founded Medical Faculty of the Charité . Since 2008 he has been the deputy director of the Forensic Medicine Institute at the University Hospital in Münster, and since 2010 he has also been an adjunct professor at the Westphalian Wilhelms University .

Research interests

Schmeling's research interests focus on determining the age of living people, which he has already dealt with in his habilitation thesis.
