Konrad Handel Foundation Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Konrad Handel Foundation Prize , formerly the Konrad Handel Prize , is a science award for achievements in the field of forensic medicine .

Selection of the award winners and allocation

The prize is intended to recognize forensic scientific achievements that bring benefits to the administration of justice, promote road safety or help to clarify the causes of road accidents.

The prize is awarded annually at the annual conference of the German Society for Forensic Medicine (DGRM) . The awardees are determined by the Board of Trustees of the Konrad-Händel-Stiftung based on suggestions from members of the DGRM, as is the endowment financed from the foundation's income. The doping varies; In 2002 the prize for life's works was undoped, in 1998 the endowment was 16,000 DM .

history

Konrad Handel set up the foundation named after him in 1997 with the purpose of endowing the Konrad Handel Prize. After Handel's death, the DRGM decided at its 2006 annual meeting to combine its science award with the Konrad Handel award; the Foundation's Board of Trustees was left with its decision-making powers. The combined prize was awarded for the first time in 2007 under the new name of the Konrad Handel Foundation Prize.
