Günther Reinhardt

Günther Reinhardt (born June 15, 1933 in Erlangen ) is a German forensic doctor , psychiatrist and former university professor .

Education and professional activity

Günther Reinhardt, son of a doctor, studied medicine from 1951 to 1956 at the Universities of Erlangen , Tübingen and Munich . In Erlangen he received his doctorate in 1956 with a thesis on the influence of the first-time mother on the weight and size of the newborn. After his time as a medical assistant and his license to practice medicine, he was a research assistant, first at the Institute for Forensic Medicine and Criminology, then at the University Psychiatric Clinic and again until 1972 at the Institute for Forensic Medicine and Criminology.

Krauland gained recognition as a specialist in two medical fields: 1964 for psychiatry and neurology , and 1978 for forensic medicine . At the University of Tübingen, he received further training in child psychiatry and forensic psychiatry in 1976 and 1977 . In 1971 he completed his habilitation in forensic medicine , the subject of the habilitation thesis was aspects of thallium and cadmium poisoning. In 1977 he was appointed adjunct professor at the University of Erlangen.

After moving to Heidelberg University in 1978, he became professor and head of the traffic medicine department at the Institute for Forensic Medicine. As early as 1980 he was offered the chair for forensic medicine at Ulm University , which he held until his retirement in 1998. From 1993 to 1998 he was President of the German Society for Forensic Medicine .

Main areas of work

Günther Reinhardt was mainly concerned with experimental studies of the blood alcohol content and the assessment of road users. Another area of ​​work was legal issues relating to road use and the occurrence of accidents. His political interest was in the position of the medical expert.
