Pro Cantione Antiqua

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pro Cantione Antiqua of London (PCA) is a British vocal ensemble founded in 1968 by tenor James Griffet, countertenor Paul Esswood and conductor and producer Mark Brown.

history

Their first concert was at St. Bartholomew's, Smithfield, with Brian Brockless, but from an early age they were closely associated with the conductor and musicologist Bruno Turner. Even before the Tallis Scholars were founded, they were the leading British performers in a cappella music, especially early music , and one of the earliest formations dedicated to early music.
