Hansjürgen Bratzke
Hansjürgen Bratzke (born May 19, 1946 in Hamburg ) is a German forensic doctor and former university professor .
Life
After attending school in Berlin and the medical school at the city's Free University 1966-1972 he worked as a research assistant at the Institute of Legal Medicine and acquired in 1975 with his thesis on the relationship between free fatty acids and growth hormone release the doctorate .
Bratzke has been a specialist in forensic medicine since 1978, habilitation since 1981 (the subject of the habilitation thesis was brain stem injuries) and since 1984 he has represented the subject as a professor , initially at the Free University of Berlin, from the same year at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and from 1991 on the chair at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt . In Frankfurt he was Managing Director of the Center for Forensic Medicine and Director of the Institute for Forensic Medicine until his retirement in 2013 . A preferred area of interest for Bratzke is forensic neuropathology .
Bratzke is a member of the ethics committee of the Frankfurt University Hospital. As President of the Professional Association of German Forensic Doctors, Hansjürgen Bratzke stood up for the professional policy concerns of his colleagues; since 2017 he has been Vice President of the professional association.
Educational work in criminal cases
Hansjürgen Bratzke examined the victims from many criminal cases and appeared in court as an expert witness even after his work at the university had ended. The high-profile cases included
