Andreas Schneider (travel writer)

Andreas Schneider (born May 10, 1951 in Hamburg ) is a German tour guide , tour operator and author of travel guides.

Career

After graduating from high school, Schneider studied Ancient History, Greek and Classical Archeology in Kiel, Marburg and Berlin at the Philippinum grammar school in Marburg. In 1976 he passed a master’s degree on the subject of “The Athenian building policy and its motives in the 5th and 4th centuries BC. Chr. "

He then worked as a tour guide for study trips to Greece, Italy and Egypt. In 1981 Schneider founded his own study travel company, “New Travel. Art and social history study trips ”in Hamburg. In the mid-1980s he began to write travel guides for DuMont travel publisher , first of all he wrote an art travel guide about Cyprus . In 1990 he received his doctorate from Dieter Metzler in Münster with a history didactic work “Historical tour guidance on study trips using the example of Greece and Cyprus with special consideration of ancient history. Guide for tour guides ”.

Schneider lives in Marburg.
