Andreas Seidel-Morgenstern (born August 9, 1956 in Mittweida ) is a German process engineer . He is director at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems in Magdeburg and holds the chair for chemical process engineering at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg .

Live and act

Andreas Seidel-Morgenstern studied process engineering at the TH Leuna-Merseburg. In 1987 he received his doctorate at the Central Institute for Physical Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the GDR in Berlin (ZIPC). After a research stay in the USA from 1991 to 1992 at the University of Tennessee , he worked at the Institute for Technical Chemistry at TU Berlin , where he completed his habilitation in 1994.

In 1995 he was appointed to the professorship for chemical process engineering at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg and in 1998 was elected External Scientific Member of the Max Planck Society .

Since the institute was founded in 1998, he has headed the research group Physico-Chemical Basics of Process Technology at the Max Planck Institute in Magdeburg. In 2002 he was appointed Scientific Member of the Max Planck Society and Director at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems in Magdeburg. In 2005 and 2006 he was dean of the faculty for process and systems engineering at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg.

Since September 2013, Andreas Seidel-Morgenstern has been the spokesperson for the International Max Planck Research School Magdeburg for Advanced Methods in Process and Systems Engineering (IMPRS ProEng).
