The Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems is a non-university research institution sponsored by the Max Planck Society and is based in Magdeburg .

history

The Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems was founded in 1996 and is the first institute of the Max Planck Society to focus on issues from the engineering sciences .

organization

The institute is divided into seven specialist groups:

  • Process synthesis and process dynamics
  • Physico-chemical process technology
  • Systems and control theory
  • Physico-chemical basics of process technology
  • Bioprocess engineering
  • Systems biology
  • Molecular network analysis

The scientists work together across disciplines in the project areas:

  • Hierarchical structures
  • Property-distributed systems
  • Integrated processes
  • Networked processes
  • Hybrid and Event Discrete Systems
  • Network theory

International Max Planck Research School (IMPRS)

Together with the University of Magdeburg, the institute operates the International Max Planck Research School Magdeburg for Advanced Methods in Process and Systems Engineering (formerly International Max Planck Research School for Analysis, Design and Optimization in Chemical and Biochemical Process Engineering ). An IMPRS is an English-language doctoral program that enables a structured doctorate. The spokesman for the IMPRS is Andreas Seidel-Morgenstern , who is also one of the directors of the MPI.

Ernst-Dieter-Gilles-Scholarship

Since 2020 the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems has been awarding the "Ernst Dieter Gilles" grant for young post-doctoral researchers. It is named after the founding director of the institute, Ernst Dieter Gilles .
