Andreas Spillmann (born August 3, 1959 ) is a Swiss cultural manager and has headed the Swiss National Museum since 2006 .

Life

After high school, Andreas Spillmann graduated from the Otto Falckenberg School in Munich, a specialist academy for performing arts. He then studied political economy in Zurich, did his doctorate in Basel with René L. Frey and in 1992 co-founded the Swiss consultancy BSS for economic issues.

In 1998 he became cultural representative of the canton of Basel-Stadt ; In 2002 he moved to the Zurich Schauspielhaus . Until 2004 he headed the theater as commercial director, and finally also as artistic director in the 2004/2005 season. In 2006 the Swiss Federal Council appointed him Director of the Musée Suisse Group. The museum group, to which the National Museum Zurich , Prangins Castle , the Forum for Swiss History Schwyz and the collection center in Affoltern am Albis belong, became the Swiss National Museum under the new Museum Act 2010 .

Andreas Spillmann has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Hulda and Gustav Zumsteg Foundation since 2014 and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Restaurant Kronenhalle AG in Zurich since 2020 .
