Andreas Strobl (art historian)

Andreas Strobl (* 1965 in Munich ) is a German art historian and employee of the State Graphic Collection in Munich .

Life

Andreas Strobl studied art history, philosophy and history at the University of Munich . He completed his studies with Hans Belting in 1991 with a Magister Artium (subject: The Brussels Tables of Justice by Dieric Bouts . Studies on urban iconography ). In 1994 he was at the TU Berlin with Robert Suckale with the work Otto Dix . A career as an artist in the twenties doctorate . In 1996/97 he received a grant from the German Research Foundation on the subject: The relationship between art criticism and art science in the Weimar Republic using the example of Curt Glazer .

After a traineeship at the State Museums in Bavaria, he worked as a research assistant for the collection of drawings at the Georg Schäfer Museum in 2000/01 and as custodian for 19th and 20th century art at the Kupferstichkabinett at the Kunsthalle Bremen in 2001/02 .

Since October 1st, 2002 he has been curator for 19th century art at the State Graphic Collection in Munich. In addition, between 1996 and 2012 he was the author of the Allgemeine Künstlerlexikons and published non-fiction book reviews in the SZ from 1994 to 2013 and non-fiction book reviews and articles in the humanities category in the FAZ from 2000 to 2011 .

He publishes on the art of the 19th and 20th centuries, on reception aesthetics in art history, on caricature and on the history of art criticism .
