Andree von Graben, Lord of Kornberg and Graben (* Kornberg Castle ; † probably 1521 ibid.) Was a Styrian knight .

biography

Andree came from the Styrian branch of the von Graben von Stein family at Kornberg Castle. His parents were the Styrian governor Ulrich III. von Graben and Agnes Närringer, his brothers were Wolfgang and Wilhelm . The genealogist Gabriel Bucelin titled Ulrich III. in his work "Germania topo-chrono-stemmato-graphica sacra et prophana" as a baron . But there is no known elevation of Von Grabens to the (free) master class. Andree's cousin was Virgil von Graben , the governor of the Gorizia .

In 1490, Andree and his two brothers Wolfgang and Wilhelm were awarded sovereign goods to Paura , Leuttersdorf and Palsdorf. In 1494 the three brothers Andree, Wolfgang and Wilhelm von Graben negotiated with the Roman-German King Maximilian I about taking possession of the lordship and Saldenhofen Castle . For the purchase price of a few villages, forests and ponds lying around it came into the pledge of the brothers. From 1498 onwards his older brother Wolfgang was named as the sole imperial caretaker [pronounced burgrave ].

In 1510 he succeeded his brother Wolfgang as administrator and then as bailiff of the Windischgrätz office , which he held until his death. In Valvasor's list of the owners of the estate and the Graben family castle in Carniola , Andree and his two brothers Wilhelm and Wolfgang are mentioned in 1520. Andree von Graben died in 1531 and is buried in Rein Abbey. Since Andree died without a physical heir , only his brother Wilhelm ensured the continued existence of the Lords of Graben at Kornberg Castle .
