Andrei Yegorowitsch Borowych
Andrei Jegorowitsch Borowych ( Russian Андрей Егорович Боровых ; born October 30, 1921 in Kursk , † November 7, 1989 in Moscow ) was a Soviet fighter pilot of Russian descent.
Life
Borowych was born into a working class family. In December 1941, he graduated from the Chuguyevsk Military Aviation School and volunteered for the front. As part of the German-Soviet War , during the battle in the Kursk Bogen , he shot down eight enemies in one month. In around 600 combat flights, he destroyed 32 enemy aircraft and 14 more in the group.
He was a two-time Hero of the Soviet Union (August 24, 1943 and February 23, 1945) and a two-time holder of the Order of Lenin . In 1943 he became a member of the CPSU . In 1957 he graduated from the General Staff Academy. He was a deputy in the Supreme Soviet of the USSR .
