Andrei Petrovich Gagarin ( Russian Андрей Петрович Гагарин ; born July 9, 1934 in Leningrad , † January 30, 2011 in Maryland , USA) was a Russian physicist and professor at the State Polytechnic University of St. Petersburg .

Gagarin was a descendant of the first Russian tsar dynasty of the Rurikids from the princely house of Gagarin . After the end of the Soviet Union, he called himself a "prince" and was a delegate in the so-called European Nobility Commission . Gagarin was married three times.
