Andrej Bagar (born October 20, 1900 in Trenčian -Teplitz, today Trenčianske Teplice , Austria-Hungary , † July 31, 1966 in Bratislava ) was a Slovak actor, director and teacher.

Life

Bagar acted in various films and was a member of the Slovak National Theater . He participated in the Slovak National Uprising during World War II and was the founder of a front theater .

He was awarded the State Prize of the ČSSR , the Order of the Republic , the Order of Labor and as a national artist. The Andrej Bagar Prize is named after him. The Andrej Bagar Theater in Neutra bears his name.
