Trenčianske Teplice ( German Trentschin-Teplitz , Hungarian Trencsénteplic ) is a city in western Slovakia with 4162 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) and a well-known health resort.
In Trenčianske Teplice there are numerous sights, such as old hotels from the time of the Habsburg monarchy , a spa park and old bath houses.
geography
Trenčianske Teplice is located on the Strážovské vrchy ( Rajetz Mountains ), about 15 km from Trenčín . The Teplička stream flows through the village . In the city park there is a reservoir called Jazierko Baračka.
The city is divided into three large districts : Kúpeľné jadro , Štvrť (sídlisko) SNP and Miestna časť Baračka , as well as several small settlements such as B. Kaňova.
history
The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1379. According to an old legend, a farmer was looking for his sheep here. Instead of his animal he found a small lake with hot water, this water had a strong smell of sulfur compounds. Thereupon he founded a bath for the sick there.
The city has been restored and modernized since around 2010.
Transport and infrastructure
Trenčianske Teplice has two shopping centers ( Amadeus & Termál ) and many different shops in the city's pedestrian zone. Especially fashion shops are common.
A country road leads to the health resort via Trenčianska Teplá, which continues to Omšenie . In addition, bus lines connect the city with Trenčín, Ilava , Senica and Dubnica nad Váhom . In seasonal traffic, the Trenčianska Teplá – Trenčianske Teplice narrow-gauge railway runs from the Trenčianska Teplá State Railway Station to Trenčianske Teplice . A cycle path between Trenčianske Teplice and Trenčianska Teplá is being planned.

In the village there is a Catholic and a Protestant church, as well as two cemeteries.
Personalities
The Slovak actor Andrej Bagar (1900–1966) was born in Trenčianske Teplice . The politician and pharmacist Vavro Šrobár (1867–1950) was also born here. The politician Vladimír Mečiar has lived in Trenčianske Teplice for several decades and runs a hotel here.
