Andrejs Upīts
Andrejs Upīts ( Russian Андрей Мартынович Упит / Andrei Martynowitsch Upit; scientific transliteration Andrej Martynovič Upit ), b. on December 4, 1877 , died on November 17, 1970 , was a Latvian writer, critic, and literary scholar. As a representative of socialist realism , Upīts is called the "Latvian Gorky". His work includes all major genres of literature.
Live and act
Andrejs Upits was one of the first members of the Latvian Academy of Sciences . His novels show the influence of Leo Tolstoy and were included in the Russian book series Library of World Literature published by the Khudoschestwennaja literatura publishing house.
