Andrew Liddell Aitken (* 25. August 1909 in Newcastle upon Tyne , † October 1984 ) was an English football - goalkeeper .

Career

Aitken played in the North Eastern League for Wallsend before moving to the Football League First Division for Liverpool FC in March 1930 ; eight months earlier, his Wallsend teammate Charlie Thompson had taken the same route. At Liverpool Aitken had little chances to play behind Arthur Riley and Elisha Scott , he came to his only competitive game on December 27, 1930 in a 3-3 draw against Blackburn Rovers . His time at Liverpool ended abruptly after he broke his foot in a reserve game in April 1931. After stints at the amateur clubs Mickley and Newburn Athletic, he returned to the Football League for the 1935/36 season , but with the third division Hartlepools United it also remained in a league assignment.
