Andrew Fletcher (politician)

Andrew Fletcher of Saltoun (born around 1653, probably in Saltoun, Haddingtonshire; died 1716 in London ) was a Scottish patriot, state thinker and book collector.

As a member of the Scottish Parliament ( Parliament of Scotland ), he was an energetic speaker and zealous Republicans, the successive governments of Charles II. , James II. And William III. fought. He was at the Monmouth - Rebellion involved and opposed as one of the leaders of the union of Scotland and England ( 1707 Act of Union between Scotland and England ).

He left behind some political writings that were collected posthumously .
