Andrew John Strenio Jr.

Andrew John Strenio Jr. (born April 3, 1952 in Erie, Pennsylvania) is an American lawyer, government employee , and a member of the Interstate Commerce Commission .

Life

Andrew John Strenio grew up with a brother and two sisters. His parents Andrew Strenio (1922-2001) and Mary C. Rodgers divorced. The mother later married Robert Brunet. The children grew up with him too.

Andrew John Strenio attended Hamden High School in Hamden, Connecticut from 1967 to 1970 . He then studied at Princeton University , which he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1974 , and at Harvard Law School and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government . He graduated in 1978 with a Juris Doctor ( cum laude ) and Master of Public Policy Degree.

During his studies he worked in various positions as a research assistant, legal assistant and in government agencies.

From 1978 he conducted research at the Huron Institute in Cambridge and wrote the book "The Testing Trap" published in 1981 on tests in the American educational system. From 1980 he was a lawyer with Wald, Harkrader & Ross law firm in Washington DC. Later that year he joined the president's economic advisory board . From January 1982 he worked in the consumer protection department of the Federal Trade Commission.

On July 23, 1984, the Democrat was nominated to succeed Reginald E. Gilliam Jr. for the December 31, 1985 seat on the Interstate Commerce Commission. The confirmation by the US Senate took place on September 6, 1984. He took office on September 14, 1984. His seat was canceled on January 1, 1986.

On January 27, 1986 he was nominated for a seat on the Federal Trade Commission and confirmed on March 14, 1986. On July 15, 1991, he ended this activity and switched to a law firm.

Since then he has worked as a consultant and lawyer for various law firms, currently for Sidley Austin .
