Andrew McKelvey

Andrew McKelvey (born 1934 in New York City , † November 27, 2008 ) was an American entrepreneur . He founded Monster Worldwide , the worldwide job portal .

McKelvey founded Telephone Marketing Program in 1967 , which specialized in advertising in the Yellow Pages and later became known internationally as TMP Worldwide Advertising and Communications. In 1995 McKelvey bought The Monster Board and Online Career Center , which he combined to form the Monster.com job exchange in 1999 and finally merged them in 2003 in a merger with TMP Worldwide to create Monster Worldwide , based in New York City. In 2007 Monster had sales of $ 1.35 billion and had 5,200 employees in 36 states.

Andrew McKelvey retired from his company in 2006 at the age of 72. The billionaire died in November 2008 of complications from a pancreatic tumor .
