Alfred Bellebaum

Alfred Bellebaum (born July 25, 1931 in Siegen ) is a German sociologist . In the first phase of his academic career he was the author of many textbooks. He later turned to happiness research , the German pioneer of which he is considered.

Live and act

Bellebaum studied economics and sociology at the University of Cologne , where he was awarded a degree in economics and did her doctorate under René König on Ferdinand Tönnies . After working as an editor for social science encyclopedias and an assistant at Friedrich Tenbruck at the University of Frankfurt , during which he qualified as a professor was, he taught until his retirement as professor of sociology at the University of Koblenz-Landau , he was also an honorary professor at the Department of Sociology at of the University of Bonn .

In 1990 Bellebaum founded the non-profit Institute for Happiness Research eV in Vallendar , which he headed until it closed in 2006.
