Andrew Price Morgan
Andrew Price Morgan (born October 27, 1836 in Centerville near Dayton , Ohio , † 1907 ) was an American botanist and mycologist . Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Morgan ".
Live and act
Morgan worked as a teacher in Dayton.
He studied the botany of the Miami River and published the "Flora of the Miami River, Ohio". But he was particularly interested in mycology. He was the mentor of Curtis Gates Lloyd , who also became a noted botanist and mycologist. His correspondence with Lloyd is kept in the Lloyd Library and Museum in Cincinnati.
A number of mushrooms have been named after Morgan, including:
- Boletus morgani Peck
- Polyporus morgani Frost
- Lepiota morgani ("Poisonous parasol")
- Russula morgani
- Cantharellus morgani Peck
- Hypoxylon morgani Ellis & Everh.
He named the fungus Hygrophorus laurae after his wife - today: Limacium laurae (Morgan) Singer.
