Andrew Sheridan (born November 1, 1979 in London ) is an English rugby union player . He plays as a pillar for the England national team and the Sale Sharks .

Sheridan began playing rugby at the age of nine. He played for numerous youth teams in England, at that time still as a second-row striker due to his height (1.96 m) . After winning the title at the World Cup in 2003 , he came to his first use for an English men's selection that met the Barbarians . The first official international match followed in November 2004 against Canada as a substitute.

Since the November international matches in 2005, he has been an integral part of the English national team. In 2007 he dropped out for a few months after injuries, but returned to the World Cup in time. There he was one of the top performers of the team that was able to advance to the finals, but had to admit defeat to South Africa there.

In 2005 he was appointed to the ranks of the British and Irish Lions and came to five appearances in non-statistics games in the run-up to the actual friendly against New Zealand . He was also nominated for the follow-up tour that took the Lions to South Africa in 2009. He came to two missions against the "Springboks".

Besides rugby, Sheridan is a musician and a bricklayer .
