Andrij Volodymyrowytsch Tschebykin ( Ukrainian Андрій Володимирович Чебикін ; born April 14, 1946 in Hajssyn , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian graphic artist and art professor. He is President of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine and Rector of the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture .

Life

In 1970 Andrij Tschebykin graduated from the Kiev State Art Institute (now the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine ) and began teaching there. From 1980 to 1987 he was Vice Rector there and since 1989 he has been its Rector. He was also the head of the Kiev Union of Artists of Ukraine and a board member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine in the late 1980s. Since 1997 he has also been President of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine . As an artist he works in the field of easel, book design and monumental art. His works are exhibited at the National Art Museum of Ukraine and the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow , among others .

Honors

In 1962 Andrij Tschebykin was honored with the title “ People's Artist of Ukraine ” and in 2007 he was awarded the State Prize of Ukraine with the Taras Shevchenko Prize .
