Andrzej Maleszka (born March 3, 1955 in Poznań ) is a Polish screenwriter, director and writer. He created children's series, children's films and children's books, which are about magic and sorcery.

life and career

Andrzej Maleszka studied Polish philology and theater studies at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan in his birthplace . He specialized in works for children and young people. He produced children's series for public television, films for children and young people and many plays for television theater. His achievements have been recognized both in Poland and abroad. The German premiere of the work Ballada o Kasi i Drzewnie , Katja und der Baum took place in Berlin in 1992 . In the same year he produced the children's series Mama Nic with the main actors Danuta Stenka and Krzysztof Nguyen. Andrzej Maleszka received many awards for his works for children. He was awarded the Grand Prix and the UNESCO Prize by the Prix ​​Jeunesse Foundation at the International Festival in Munich. He later received the Silver Medal at the New York Television Festival in 1993 and the Jury Award at the Chicago International Television Festival in 1994. In 1995 Andrzej Maleszka produced the children's series Maszyna Zmian , The Metamorphosis Machine , which is about a magical lattice ball . For this series he was awarded the Munich Grand Prix in 1996. He then won the Grand Prix at the Montevideo Television Film Festival in 1998. On November 19, 2007 Andrzej Maleszka received the international Emmy Award in the category of television productions for children and young people in New York for his film Magiczne Drzewo ( The Magic Tree ) . During this time, The Magic Tree became one of the most famous children's productions in all of Poland. In 2008 Andrzej Maleszka created the film The Morphus Secret together with Karola Hattop with Jonas Hämmerle and Oliver Korittke as the main actors. Since 2009 the children's novels in the Magiczne Drzewo series have been published by the Znak Publishing Institute. The children's book series Magiczne Drzewo developed into one of the most widely read children's book series in Poland , especially with books such as Czerwone Krzesło - The Red Chair and Tajemnica Mostu - The Secret of the Bridge .
