Andrzej Smirnov
Andrzej Smirnow (born September 9, 1938 in Warsaw ) is a Polish politician of the Platforma Obywatelska ( Civic Platform ).

After attending the Stanisław Staszic Grammar School ( XIV Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. Stanisława Staszica ) in Warsaw, he studied at the Technical University of Warsaw, which he graduated with a master's degree. He then worked there at the Chair for Electric Drives and then at the Institute for Sequence Control and Electronics Industry ( Sterowania i Elektroniki Przemysłowej ). 1974 Smirnow received his doctorate in engineering . In 1980 he became chairman of the NSZZ Solidarność of the Technical University of Warsaw and remained so until 1990. At the same time, he was deputy chairman of the National Science Department of Solidarność. In 1990 he co-founded the Porozumienie Centrum ( alliance of centers ), but left it to run for Solidarność in the first parliamentary elections of the Third Polish Republic in 1991. His candidacy was successful and he became a member of the Sejm . From 1998 to 2002 he was a member of the Sejmik of the Masovian Voivodeship . He was a member of the Akcja Wyborcza Solidarność ( Electoral Action Solidarność ) and was able to win a mandate for parliament again in the 2007 elections. In 2002 Andrzej Smirnow became a member of the citizens' platform. As a member of this party, he was successful in the 2005 elections , with 10,263 votes, and the 2007 early elections , with 10,546 votes.
Andrzej Smirnow is married and has one son.
