Andreas "Andy" Bentza (born July 3, 1952 in Munich ) is an Austrian entrepreneur and former rallycross driver.

Racing career

Andy Bentza got into motorsport in the early 1970s, supported by his father and especially his mother .

From 1973 he drove, among other things, as a team mate of Franz Wurz in the Austrian State Rallycross Championship , where he won the championship title several times. His last major success in this racing series was the 1986 Cup victory in Division II for Group B vehicles.

At the end of the 1970s, he started several times with a Kaimann in Formula Vee . There he reached a 36th place in the Formula Super Vee European Championship in 1978.

He achieved his greatest motorsport successes in 1978 in a Lancia Stratos HF 3.0 by winning the European Rallycross Championship in the GT division and in 1986 at the British Rallycross Grand Prix at Brands Hatch , which he won on an Audi quattro .

Private

Andreas Bentza grew up in Traismauer and completed his school education in 1972 at the technical college in St. Pölten . He then joined his parents' company, a car and bicycle repair service.

At the same time as motor sport, he worked in the vehicle trade and has been running an engine repair company as an engineer since 1992 .

Bentza lives in St. Pölten , is married and has a daughter who is active as a dressage rider .
