Andrew John Partridge (born November 11, 1953 in Valletta , Malta ) is a British songwriter, guitarist, label boss and producer. Partridge wrote most of the songs in his band XTC . He lives in Swindon , Wiltshire .

Partridge was born in Malta but grew up in Swindon, where he has lived ever since.

His pathological stage fright , stress and a nervous breakdown resulted in XTC not going on tour since 1982. As a result, he developed an increasing interest in detailed studio work and was also responsible for the visual side of XTC. In addition to his work with XTC, Partridge has published his demo recordings under the series title Fuzzy Warbles in six issues so far. As a producer or songwriter he worked a. a. with The Lilac Time , Thomas Dolby , Stephen Duffy , Joan Armatrading , David Yazbek , Ryūichi Sakamoto , Terry Hall , Cathy Dennis and Harold Budd . In addition, he translated the texts for the English edition of the album Chaos into English for Herbert Grönemeyer .
