Andrew "Andy" Serwer (born September 16, 1959 in Chevy Chase ) is an American journalist . Since 2006 he has been editor-in-chief of the business magazine Fortune .

Life

Serwer studied history at Bowdoin College in Brunswick until 1981 (Bachelor of Arts). He received an MBA from Emory University in Druid Hills and a Masters in Journalism (1985) from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism . He then became a reporter for Fortune business magazine . As an editor he wrote the cover stories on Bill Gates , Larry Ellison , John Chambers and Cisco Systems, among others . From 2001 to 2006 he was also a business presenter on American Morning ( CNN ). He has also appeared on Morning Joe ( MSNBC ) and Squawkbox ( CNBC ). In 2006 he became editor-in-chief of Fortune . During his tenure, he initiated Fortune.com, among others.

In 2000 he was named Business Journalist of the Year by the TJFR Business News Reporter. In 2007 he was one of the 100 most influential business journalists in the world according to NewsBios.com.
