Requirements management software
A requirements management software (also requirements engineering software ) is an application program in which requirements (English requirements ) managed to be. The requirements are automatically recorded and managed there, i. H. a requirement stands on its own and can be treated as an independent object. This creates the prerequisites for mapping the structure of a requirement in the requirements management software and evaluating it electronically. If requirements are stored in text files or spreadsheets, this evaluation is only possible to a very limited extent.
tasks
The most important tasks when using a requirements management software are:
- Requirements can be linked to ensure traceability
- A request can be versioned; H. the changes to the requirement are recorded
- The status of a requirement can be documented and the requirement can go through a life cycle
- Flexibility compared to static text documents
- Versioning and cooperation
- Project management
The requirements management software is intended to support the user in both areas of application in keeping the requirements in a consistent state at all times in order to be able to provide information about the system to be developed.
Types of requirements management software
In practice, there are two areas of application for requirements management software:
- Survey and documentation of requirements in the context of requirements engineering and
- Management of requirements during the life cycle of an application
The traceability must be guaranteed in both applications.
The following types of requirements management software can be distinguished:
- Office tools
- Wikis
- Workflow tools
- Development environments and modeling tools
- special requirements management tools
- agile cloud solutions.
